Worst Gift Received?

Wed May 20, 2009, 6:49 AM
What's the worst present you've ever received? How did you react and what, ultimately, did you do with the gift?

Hm...I don't know. I can't recall receiving any unwanted gifts in recent years. I should be grateful for that I suppose, and I am ever so grateful. My favorite gift of all time, on the opposite end of the spectrum, is my keyboard. I've wanted to learn piano and play keyboard since I was very little although I never got the chance to really take any lessons. Recently I found a website for those who would like to learn keyboard but can't afford private instruction. It's a very easy to navigate website, and the lessons are very basic moving on to more and more advanced 'techniques', all available as PDF's. They even have the option of downloading the entire series of lessons all combined into one large PDF, which I've downloaded. (www.gardenofpraise.com). The only thing left is to sit still for a half hour each day and practice. It's very difficult for me, especially with the scales. I think I know them pretty well and I have only played the scales a few times. I'm fooling myself, thinking I've got this, and what's more is that I know I'm fooling myself. Does that even make sense? I have no idea how I expect to be able to write songs, write good or great songs, without forcing myself to sit and play the sales that bore me to tears when I know I need to learn to play and instrument or two. Anyone have a suggestion as to how I could remedy this problem? How do those that start at very young ages manage to do it??

I'm an aspiring fashion designer currently located in Central Florida. I've applied to O'More College of Design and hope to begin training there in the fall of 2009. I absolutely love the mountains and waterfalls. I also listen to way too much music, but I wouldn't trade my music for anything--I'd miss it too much!
